The History of CTR Rings

CTR or "Choose the Right" is the saying or motto of many Mormons. Although they prefer you call them The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. This motto is used to inspire children and adults to make a good decision when faced with a tough problem. The CTR motto is much like the WWJD (what would Jesus do) motto that was so hot among Christians. Although the WWJD saying came much later after CTR.
For example someone might think CTR in their head when faced with the following situation. If a teenager is offered drugs at School they would ask themselves "what is the right choice" and in some cases would look down at their "Ctr Ring" and be reminded. They would then pick the correct choice based on their beliefs. In 1970 a Church committee designed and recommended the shield that you see today on most CTR products. It was at that time that the symbol became a recognized saying among members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

It was many years later that the design was used in other forms like clothing, bracelets, rings, and more. However, the saying remains the same and is an inspiration to Church members all around the World. The "CTR" abbreviation is also patented and trademarked by the Church. For anyone who is a member of the Mormon faith they will remember the old green CTR ring that they grew up with. This was one of the original designs that stood the test of time. Interesting enough most of these old green CTR rings would actually turn a child's finger green. From it's olden days the CTR logo has transformed into something greater being translated into many languages and used in all sorts of inspirational products.
